01 SITE
The site, Medini Iskandar Malaysia or Medini City is located at Nusajaya, Johor Bahru District, Johor, Malaysia. Medini City is a new urban township with an integrated and comprehensive masterplan coordinated by Medini Iskandar Malaysia Sdn Bhd. The masterplan is designed with a strategic vision to encapsulate Medini as a city that is strong and iconic with distinctive new building designs and people oriented public spaces. The development is divided into 6 zones while the selected site is located in the Zone D, where its key activity is retail and creative industry, white targeting young population with high quality recreational and entertainment.

02 BRIEF

The brief calls for the design of “a new building for Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (MaGICX) co-working and training centre”. Aspires to create an environment that contributes toward talent development, industry promotion, knowledge-sharing, and international collaboration, MaGICX’s credits include projects related to augmented reality, mixed and virtual environment, image processing, computer vision, multimedia software engineering, medical computing, computer interaction, human interface, usability, animation and technology, speech and signal processing, visualization, multimedia and software innovation, and emerging technology.

The proposed co-working and training centre environment shall cover the three (3) aspects:-

MAGICX VISION
03 CONCEPT
ENEZYMATIC = ENERGETIC + ENZYMATIC
The design concept, 'Enezymatic' is a word formed from the combination of 2 words, namely 'energetic' and 'enzymatic'

'Energetic' means to create a comfort and cheerful working environment to allow the users of the building to work energetically.

'Enzymatic' means to boost the efficiency of work, as well as the cooperation in between MaGICX and their clients in developing the media and game industry through designed space and architecture.

Building orientation with smaller facade facing east and west.

FORM MAKING
In general, the building is designed as 2 building blocks where the front block is for the usage of MaGICX clients, including spaces such as incubator office, meeting room and other facilities such as seminar room, voice over studio, resource room, discussion area. As for the block at the back, it is the MaGICX building, including spaces such as working office, meeting room, manager room, server room and other building services. The 2 blocks are then being connected by an intersecting bridges at the middle as well as multiple intermediate spaces such as outdoor garden, relaxing area and pantry to promote interaction between 2 parties.
