InterMod | (B) Smart Social Mobility
32nd Z.ONE Architecture Student Workshop | R.SET Product Design Competition | Category B: Smart Social Mobility | 1st Runner Up
01 project brief
R.SET Product Design (Category B: Smart Social Mobility) is a design competition organized in conjunction with the 32rd Z.ONE Architecture Student Workshop. This competition allows students to team up as a maximum of 4 members to design a 3D vehicle model. The submission requirement consist of 3 A3 boards that illustrate the 3D overall view, design concept, top view, elevations, vehicle's function and so on. This competition is participated in collaboration with Kennard Liew Jun Hao, Tan Tze Lik and Yong Yi Jie.

Project Brief
02 introduction

InterMod is an autonomous public transportation system that operates with a central server system integrating with different modes of transportation. It was designed to cater the needs of users in terms of efficiency and convenience with the modularity of InterMod. Besides, InterMod is designed in a standardice single unit with different interior specification according to the needs and services. With this modular system, InterMod can be operated in different transportation systems, including ground, air and sea.

Introduction
03 design concept
Central server system helps in reducing congestion of private owned cars due to differing driving habits.
Energy saving compared to current public transport where more energy is wasted when there are not many passengers.
Modularity allows single units reaching smaller roads which increase accessibility.
Convenience and efficiency in saving time to look for parking lots as the unit can be ordered through mobile apps.
CONCEPTUAL IDEA

The vehicle body is designed in a standardice single unit with different interior specification to fit different needs and services.
MODULARITY

DOUBLE ORIENTATION TIRE
Doughnut-shape tyre that can rotate in 2 dimension of direction, usual forward rotation and inner rotation. This tyre enables each modular to move back and forth as well as aside which make the movement more convenient to avoid congestion.

Flight Mode
Used to access high land area and inland. Modular unit attached to the middle pathway of the aircraft to enable connectivity between cabins.

Marine Mode
Used to access island and coastline where there are limited area for aircraft. Besides, this mode can also be used to carry heavier cargo.
MODE OF TRANSPORTATION
Train Mode
Used as express transportation line traveled between cities. Modular units are place inside a vacumm cylinder to enable fast speed movement.
Bus Mode
Used to travel between nearer cities or within cities where the units share a similar destination. Modular units are connected in line to reduce thrust force in order to save energy.

Each modular unit is driven by the electrical energy from the platform of the unit which acts as a battery. When the units are connected in either transportation mode, it will accumulate the energy from each unit to the main structure for operation.
